The more you do with your dog, the better the bond you share.
Puppy training classes are really just the start when training your dog. The more you can share together, the closer the bond between you will become and the more fulfilling your relationship will be. Your dog is always learning, and most dogs love the opportunity to please their families and to learn new tricks and games. Keeping your dog thinking and actively entertained will reduce potential behaviour issues and help to maintain your dog’s physical and mental wellbeing.
For those who would like to continue their training journey with their dogs, FIDO organises a more advanced training course, called the FIDO Follow On Course. The main aims of this course are:
To improve the dogs’ focus on their guardians
To practise training at a distance
To perfect loose lead walking well enough to start walking the dogs off lead.
The content varies according to the knowledge level of the dogs who come along because all dogs are different and skill levels vary a lot. The classes are tailored to train each dog-human pair new skills and to have fun in the process.
How Long is the course?
These dog training courses run for 8 weeks of an hour a week, in the evenings, at the FIDO training centre in Mitchel Troy. The numbers are limited to ensure that everyone receives personal attention from me. I am a master trainer with the GoDT and a fully qualified CFBA canine behaviourist, so can always offer lots of additional tips and advice as the courses progress. I use only positive fear-free training techniques and games to encourage the dogs to have fun while learning. Written supporting information and video links to demonstrations of training the cues will be sent to you each week.
What our clients say:
Here is what one of the course attendees had to say about my Follow On training courses.
“Fudge was a ‘challenging’ puppy - very high spirited, no respect for anyone or anything, thought she was our pack leader... but wow did she respond well to Helen’s training courses. The puppy one was a good start, then we did the follow-on one, then the sniffer course, then lots more of the follow-on ones, because Fudge loves doing them, and so do I.”
